Hello Arnaud,
Thank you for contacting Code42 support!
I apologize for the issues that you are experiencing with CrashPlan running on your NAS device.
As you are running a version of the CrashPlan client on your NAS device which has been modified by another user, we cannot provide support for this functionality.
The CrashPlan app is designed with the assumption that the CrashPlan user interface and the CrashPlan service are running on the same computer. When the CrashPlan app is installed on a computer without a graphical environment, also called "running on a headless computer," the CrashPlan service must be administered from another computer.
As running the CrashPlan service on a headless computer is an unsupported feature, our Customer Champions cannot assist you with unsupported processes, so you assume all risk of unintended behavior.
When we publish a new version of the CrashPlan client, we do not code the release for unintended functionality, so there is a good chance that if the client is installed in an unsupported configuration, that the update will break the the configuration. Some of our users have found ways of modifying the configuration so that it will be compatible with a wide variety of configurations, but we cannot provide support for these configurations, as they do not meet certain guidelines that we must adhere to, as far as the installation software and hardware parameters are concerned.
It looks as though the http://chrisnelson.ca/ site has a fix, but if this is not working for you, you may need to seek alternative means of resolution if you would like to keep using CrashPlan in an unsupported configuration.
Please let me know if there is anything else that I can assist with - I would be more than happy to help!
Best regards,
-Adam K
